Job Description
We are seeking a Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Property Accounting to join a growing investment platform with a large and diverse real estate portfolio. This individual will play a key leadership role overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and analysis across a portfolio of commercial assets within a designated region.
The role will partner closely with investment, asset management, and operations teams to support acquisitions, dispositions, and ongoing portfolio management, while ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal investment teams, joint venture partners, and third-party property managers
• Lead financial due diligence efforts for acquisitions, coordinating with internal stakeholders, external partners, and advisors
• Analyze and reconcile financial data across multiple accounting bases (e.g., GAAP, tax, and fair value) to support asset-level performance insights
• Provide oversight on accounting treatment for complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and capital events
• Review monthly and quarterly financial results for portfolio assets, ensuring accuracy for consolidation and reporting purposes
• Analyze investment performance metrics such as IRR, equity multiples, and other return measures
• Partner with external auditors and tax advisors throughout reporting cycles
• Prepare and review materials for senior leadership and investor reporting
• Oversee and manage third-party service providers and/or outsourced accounting teams, ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables
Qualifications:
• CPA designation required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 8+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and fair value accounting within real estate environments
• Experience working with complex real estate structures, including joint ventures and multi-entity ownership models
• Familiarity with real estate documentation (e.g., loan agreements, partnership agreements, property management agreements, purchase and sale agreements)
