About the Role:
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Vice President of Technology (E-commerce) to lead and scale the digital commerce technology operations for a leading retail brand. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in e-commerce platforms, web architecture, performance optimization, and cross-functional team leadership. This role will oversee the technical operations of 7 to 8 high-traffic e-commerce websites, ensuring top-tier performance, innovation, and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Define and drive the long-term technology vision for the e-commerce ecosystem.
Align e-commerce technology roadmap with business goals, marketing initiatives, and customer experience objectives.
Website Oversight:
Lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of 7–8 e-commerce websites.
Ensure all websites are highly available, scalable, secure, and deliver optimal performance.
Oversee design implementation, A/B testing, personalization strategies, and UI/UX best practices.
Team Management:
Build, mentor, and lead high-performing cross-functional teams including developers, QA, DevOps, and product managers.
Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Operations to deliver integrated experiences.
Technology Stack & Architecture:
Oversee architectural decisions, third-party integrations, CMS, APIs, and front-end/back-end technologies.
Champion best practices in coding, testing, deployment, and version control.
Innovation & Optimization:
Drive innovation through emerging tech (AI/ML, personalization, search optimization, etc.).
Implement performance monitoring tools, analytics, and automation to continuously optimize websites.
Budget & Vendor Management:
Manage technology budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts with technology providers and development partners.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in technology leadership, with at least 5 years in e-commerce.
Proven experience managing multiple e-commerce websites for a major brand.
Deep knowledge of platforms like Shopify Plus, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or custom stacks.
Strong understanding of DevOps, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and web performance tools.
Solid grasp of SEO, analytics, digital marketing tech integrations, and customer journey mapping.
Demonstrated ability to manage large, distributed teams and complex digital projects.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
