Vice President | Whole Credit Review

💰 ₹18,000 - ₹28,800 (Est.) 📍 Mumbai

Job Description

Wholesale Credit Review (WSCR) officers at JPMorganChase are responsible for validating the accuracy and timeliness of risk ratings assigned internally to credit exposures held by the firm’s wholesale business units, and for assessing the effectiveness of the credit management process. Credit Review Officers confirm the business units’ compliance with applicable internal policies and banking regulations pertaining to analysis and categorization of credit risk as well as compliance with the firm’s credit underwriting guidelines, and the quality and completeness of internal credit approval memoranda and documents.

This position is on the WSCR team responsible for covering global clients of JPMorgan’s Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) and Commercial Banking (CB) lines of business.

Position Description:

WSCR plans and conducts periodic reviews of Wholesale credit portfolios. Officers examine in detail a representative sample of portfolio clients. For each reviewed client, officers read relevant internal credit approval memoranda, client financial disclosures, collateral positions, public ratings and industry information and additional client specific reporting. Based on the information reviewed, officers develop an independent assessment of the appropriate risk rating, and identification of any potential risk and control concerns for the reviewed clients and record analyses and conclusions in a workpaper database. The officers’ written analyses must be concise, thorough and may be subject to review by external bank examiners.

Between formal reviews, officers independently monitor credit trends in individually assigned wholesale portfolios and record their observations in monitoring journals. Officers attend relevant business-led portfolio review and problem credit review meetings and manage WSCR’s ongoing relationship with internal stakeholders responsible for credit approval, client credit management and internal credit policy. Officers also interact periodically with external bank examiners.

In addition to having a comprehensive understanding of credit analysis principles, officers should be broadly familiar with risk characteristics and exposure metrics for the array of credit products (including derivative products as well as traditional loan products) used by wholesale clients.

Responsibilities include:
• As reviewer, participating in WSCR reviews led by other team members. This includes reviewing assigned client files, recording analyses and conclusions in the workpaper database, and participating actively in all review meetings.
• Continuous monitoring of assigned portfolios. This includes maintaining regular contact with responsible credit executives and bankers and participating in periodically scheduled portfolio review meetings. All observations are recorded in portfolio-specific monitoring journals.
• Serve as an information resource on risk rating policy and risk analysis for business and credit officers, who may call to seek advice or clarity and field calls from bank examiners on particular portfolios, credits recently reviewed, policy matters, credit system questions, etc.
• Partner with credit risk management to identify and inform of any potential risk or control concerns identified during reviews.
• Remain informed able to interpret regulatory developments related to WSCR portfolios.

Required Skills:
• 7+ years of credit experience analyzing high net worth clients and corporations in one or more of the following roles: credit/loan review, corporate or private client lending, counterparty risk management, credit approval, workout, risk rating analysis or regulatory supervision (OCC, FRB, RBI etc.).
• Demonstrated strong analytical and report writing skills.
• Persuasive verbal communications with peers, senior and junior stakeholders, and bank examiners.
• Planning, project leadership, and teamwork skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent at minimum; graduate degree a plus
