Job Description
Nunavut Independent Television (NITV) is a nonprofit Inuit media organization and the
owner of Uvagut TV, Canada’s first national Inuktut television channel. Founded in 1991
in Igloolik, Nunavut, NITV produces and broadcasts Inuit and Indigenous content across
Canada.

The Role
The Video Ingest and Content Coordinator is part of the Technical Operations team and
reports to the Director, Technical Operations. This role is responsible for the
management of our video content library, including the video ingest process, quality
control, and metadata management. They will also be responsible for general content
management for our web properties and other projects, as required.
All roles with NITV / Uvagut TV are responsible for understanding and upholding the
vision, mandate, and values of NITV and Uvagut TV and the wider scope of Inuit and
Indigenous issues in Canada (including Truth & Reconciliation, anti-colonialism and
self-determination). This includes how we relate to the public and other organizations,
as well as fostering a positive, inclusive, creative, and collaborative organizational
culture at work.
Key Responsibilities
● Management of our broadcast video library, including metadata entry and
organization
● Content management using the Uvagut in-house platform, including shows, video
clips, archival content, website content and other projects, as required
● Management of the video ingest process
● Quality control for broadcast video, including video and audio file analysis
● Management and QC of files related to video, such as captions and audio tracks
● Staff support with content management
● Infrastructure management
What You Bring
● Diploma or equivalent experience in broadcasting, media, library science,
archives, or related field
● Experience with video ingest and quality control
● Experience with web-based content management systems
● Knowledge of video/audio formats, codecs, and closed captioning standards
● Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
● Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and meet deadlines
● Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills
● Awareness of Inuit and Indigenous issues in Canada, including Truth &
Reconciliation
