Job Description
About the Project:
Too often, the rich, complex histories of Black and immigrant families are overlooked in our national narrative. As a student at MacEwan University, I am happy to create a digital web archive that honours these experiences: Our Shared Table: Voices of the Diaspora. A Diaspora Kinship Archive.
We are building a safe, trauma-informed space to celebrate resilience and discuss how our journeys shape who we are today. We are looking for volunteers to contribute their stories to this living history.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are centering stories and lived experiences from:
Black Canadians with deep historical roots here.
Those who have immigrated or are part of the broader global Diaspora.
Individuals who have faced hardships in their journeys, including fleeing their homelands and navigating a fresh start in Canada.
Your Comfort & Safety Come First:
Because these topics can carry heavy emotional weight, your psychological safety is my absolute highest priority.
You always remain in complete control of what you share and what you keep private.
You can choose to use your real name, a pseudonym (nickname), or remain completely anonymous.
You can change your mind and withdraw your story from the archive at any time.
Time Commitment:
Flexible. This is a volunteer role. It only takes about 1 to 2 hours of your time to share your story, with zero ongoing obligations.
How to Apply:
If you are interested in sharing your story—via recorded audio, video, or a written submission—please apply here by filling out our quick 2-minute interest form: https://lnkd.in/gm7aAMGy
