Job Title: VP, Corporate & Government Affairs
Reports To: MD or Chairman
Job Summary:
Our client is a leading producer of key Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and generic formulations seeking a Vice President, Corporate & Government Affairs.
This role leads the company's corporate, public policy, and government relations strategies. The executive ensures alignment of external affairs initiatives with the company's mission, goals, and compliance standards while advocating for the organization's interests at local and national levels.
Job Description
1. Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute comprehensive corporate and government affairs strategies to advance the company's objectives.
Provide counsel to senior leadership on public policy trends, regulatory risks, and opportunities affecting the pharmaceutical industry.
2. Government Relations & Strategic Partnerships:
Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to influence legislation and regulations impacting the business.
Navigate through regulatory approvals and compliance requirements across departments, including Pharmaceuticals, Specialty Chemicals, Labor, Pollution Control.
Liaison with Government agencies responsible for industries, commerce, finance, health, environment, and more.
Develop and implement strategies to manage crisis situations efficiently.
Monitor and respond to policy developments affecting pharmaceutical innovation, pricing, and access.
Build strategic partnerships with non-profits, advocacy groups, and healthcare organizations to enhance the company's reputation and impact.
3. Corporate Communications:
Oversee internal and external communications strategies, including media relations, corporate social responsibility, and crisis communication.
Facilitate effective communication with district administration and other local governmental bodies.
Act as the company spokesperson for public engagements, media interviews, and industry events.
4. Advocacy and Policy:
Lead initiatives to promote the company's position on key healthcare issues, including R&D funding, market access, and patient advocacy.
Collaborate with industry groups and coalitions to shape the healthcare policy environment.
Candidate Prerequisites:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field.
Minimum 18+ years in a liaison or government relations role within the pharmaceutical or related industry.
Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical regulatory environment and global health policy trends.
Strong networking abilities and established contacts within relevant government departments and regulatory bodies.
Proven track record in crisis management and ability to handle complex, high-pressure situations.
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
In-depth understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements within the pharmaceutical industry.
Demonstrated ability to navigate and influence in highly regulated industries.
