Responsibilities
The Vice President, Principal Software Development Engineer craves working in a hands-on software design, development and architecture environment, and leads by example to make sure time sensitive projects get done on time and to specifications
This VP will lead multiple Credit Engineering initiatives within PRISM
They will manage engineers who participate in many credit engineering agile teams and release trains
They will also be responsible for leading cross cutting engineering goals like QA automation, Dev Ops and code quality improvement initiatives
Occasionally you may be required to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as business or team meetings, training and culture events

Implement new technologies and assist developers as they migrate to new technologies
Establish application architecture standards and best practices for java microservices
Architect applications across the full stack, experience in PCF, Cloud Native Application Architecture, Microservices ecosystem, J2EE, Spring Java, and RESTful API’s are a must
Design data models to support complex business processes
Drive a CI/CD strategy using our Jenkins, Bitbucket, and uDeploy stack
Influence and collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and customer application experts to create amazing web apps
Mentor and influence all levels of the team: in this role, you will have the opportunity to influence up and down the chain of command
Ensure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony Financial
Assist in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy, along with our application modernization and migration roadmap
Ensure application code quality through development, test, and QA
Participate in addressing root cause analyses, incident reports and provide direction in problem resolution
Ability to analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, and implement fixes
Passionate about the latest technologies, open source projects and languages;
Provide 24x7 on-call support periodically throughout the year
Identify ways to increase efficiency and improve system performance
Work with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into the company's products

Essential Responsibilities

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 8 years of experience with software engineering OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED 10 years of experience with software engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of credit engineering support / experience

The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
