Summary

We are seeking a Warehouse Operations Manager to join our dynamic team at Brimich Logistics.

Overview:

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all activities within the assigned warehouse facility. This role ensures operations align with company goals and budgetary targets while fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate demonstrates ethical leadership, a customer-first mindset, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

Develop and implement strategic operational plans in coordination with senior management to ensure efficient and cost-effective facility performance.

Oversee all inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with quality standards and timelines.

Design and manage shipping/receiving schedules to meet productivity targets and customer expectations.

Supervise and support warehouse supervisory staff to ensure compliance with HACCP, SQF, Health & Safety, and internal policies.

Optimize the use of facility equipment to maximize productivity.

Coordinate with other department leaders to balance labour across all operational areas.

Promote continuous improvement, encouraging team members to take ownership of process enhancements.

Identify operational inefficiencies and propose actionable improvements to senior leadership.

Collaborate with the SQF Manager to uphold HACCP and SQF standards and certifications.

Conduct audits and participate in quality planning and improvement initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Warehouse Operations Manager or Executive Management.

Financial Oversight

Understand the financial impact of operational decisions.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and interpreting financial reports (e.g., P&L statements).

Analyze productivity metrics to identify performance gaps and recommend improvements.

Employee Relations & Development

Participate in daily Operations team meetings that cover previous day performance, productivity targets, workload, and any other pertinent information provided by senior management.

Manage staffing needs and support recruitment efforts.

Ensure effective onboarding and structured training for all new hires.

Set departmental and individual goals aligned with company objectives.

Maintain positive employee relations and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.

Deliver consistent coaching, performance feedback, and formal performance evaluations.

Health & Safety

Understands and works in compliance with the Environmental and Health/Safety management systems, policies, rules, and guidelines.

Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Ontario Health & Safety Act and takes every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.

Specific Health & Safety accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

o performing regular workplace inspections,

o conducting/participating in safety talks, staff meetings,

o actively participating in accident/incident investigations,

o follows the training program for new employees,

o identifying, and correcting unsafe acts or conditions,

o identify, correct, or commend health and safety performance and KPI’s

SQF Responsibilities

Ensures facilities follow the SQF program; assigns resources to ensure compliance and continued certification in accordance with the program and the SQF Manager.

Specific accountabilities for food safety include, but are not limited to:

o participating in a yearly mock recall and monthly SQF premises inspections,

o conducting/coordinating SQF verification activities with the SQF Manager

o monitoring daily walks and reports

o ensuring employees are properly trained, and training is properly recorded

o identifying and correcting GDP deviations or conditions

o Customer Concern response and communicating to the proper internal team

o Corrective Action Reports and communicating to the proper internal team

Requirements

10 years’ experience in a 3PL environment

5 years experience in a Management role accountable for managing and monitoring budget related activities

10 years’ experience utilizing RF Warehouse Management Systems

Proven leadership of teams of 50+ employees

Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills, with a collaborative team approach.

In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and accident investigation procedures.

Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Fluent in both spoken and written English.

Fully capable of working in varying temperatures. Temperatures may range anywhere from 2 degrees Celsius to 15 degrees Celsius in most Brimich Warehouses. Brimich Cold Storage buildings may range from 0 degrees Celsius to -30 degrees Celsius.
