We have an excellent opportunity for a Warehouse Operative in our Border Control Operation Department. Ideally, you will have extensive operational expertise, which may have been gained while working in a warehouse, factory, construction, or logistics facility. The primary responsibility of this position is to handle and unload items from containers in a safe and timely way while complying to business policy and procedures, as well as dealing with our customers and making sure their needs are met.

About The Role

How will you contribute:
• Ensure the handling and unloading of container good are carried out in an efficient and safe manner and in line with the Operations Manual standards.
• Operate Forklift Truck as and when required to efficiently and accurately move Containers, following the safety guidelines of the Battery Charging Units and securely parking Forklift at completion of operation.
• Perform safely the connection / disconnection and monitoring of Refrigerated containers as and when required.
• Undertake training courses as advised by the BCP Manager.
• After a period of training, to act as a Leading Hand, responsible for carrying out daily container examinations as requested by Port Health
• Ensure that a safe and healthy work environment exists, by adhering to company health, safety and environment policies, to achieve full compliance with the relevant legislation.
• In addition to the duties listed above, the jobholder is expected to perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by the line manager from time to time.

What Will You Bring.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• Experience within a similar role
• A good understanding of operational activities including Safe Working Practices
• Experience within industrial, logistics or construction industry is preferred.
• Experience dealing with customers, on site and working alongside them.
• A Forklift licence and experience is preferred
• Good computer skills and the ability to use all Microsoft applications
• To be fit and able to handle and lift cargo restraining equipment, including heavy loads
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
