Job Summary

The Warehouse Worker – Forklift Operator is responsible for the daily staging, loading and unloading of all freight coming to/shipping out from our warehouse, stocking, and maintaining inventories. They must be in compliance with training in Health & Safety, Security, Quality control, ISO and SOP’s.

Responsibilities

The safe operation of all warehouse equipment (from forklifts to hand tools)
The safe and efficient unloading of cargo from truck trailers and various ocean containers
Receive unloaded cargo and move it into the warehouse for storage
Pick or pull cargo from the warehouse and prepare it for safe transport (packing)
The safe and efficient loading of cargo into truck trailers and various ocean containers
Responsible for reporting damaged cargo coming into the warehouse; must be signed for as damaged and the damaged materials must not be shipped. Both instances must be reported to the warehouse supervisor immediately
Responsible for all documentation (way bills, packing lists, etc) and the verification of those documentation
Communicate with client representatives when they are on site and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
Required to follow all safety procedures and policies of NECA and Alberta Health and Safety
Maintain a clean work area (general warehouse cleaning duties)
Communicate with coworkers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the warehouse
Required to complete tasks with the utmost accuracy and attention to detail to keep a high level of customer satisfaction
Attention to details is also required to prevent accidents
Preventative maintenance on all forklifts/order pickers by performing a daily inspection of machinery before use
Ensure that all machinery is turned off and locked when not in use
Follow safety guidelines by reporting any accidents or unsafe work areas to the warehouse supervisor
Ensure compliance of all NECA company policies and procedures are followed, especially those pertaining to ISO, PIP, or warehouse security
Various other duties as may be required
Qualifications

Strong written/oral communication skills
Knowledge of the warehousing industry
Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines with a strong attention to detail
Team oriented with a “lead by example attitude”
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment amidst constant interruptions
Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
Required to drive forklifts and other machinery (Training to be provided)
Education/Certifications

High School Diploma
WHMIS Training
Forklift Certificate
TGD Certificate is an asset
