About the Role
Join Melbourne Water as a casual Water Literacy Education Officer and help inspire the next generation to understand and value our precious water systems. Bring your passion for the environment and education to life as in this role based at our vibrant Education Centre in Edithvale, this casual role is perfect for someone who loves engaging with people, inspiring curiosity, and turning learning into an adventure.
You’ll help deliver fun, interactive experiences for schools and community groups — with most of the action happening during busy schoolterm periods.

Deliver a range of online and in person educational tours and active learning experiences at the Edithvale-Seaford Wetland Education Centre (ESWEC)
Lead digital educational experiences using interactive digital technology to engage with key audiences.
Actively engage with school and community groups to communicate complex and technical concepts through innovative pedagogies
Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of sessions through feed
forms and Microsoft Teams discussions with the Education Advisor and Water Literacy Program Lead
Respond to a range of diverse community questions and concerns that may not always relate to the direct messaging of the Water Literacy program.

About you:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with working with school-age children (primary and secondary level) - previous teaching (formal and/or informal), tourism or interpretation experience will be highly regarded
Knowledge of adult learning principles and techniques, along with experience in modifying educational experiences to suit varying ages and tour schedules experiences
Understanding of the natural and urban water cycles, knowledge of current water issues and topics related to waterway health
Demonstrated experience in operating digital interactive technologies
Highly developed verbal communication and engaging interpretation skills to deliver complex and technical concepts to diverse audiences
Demonstrated ability or capacity to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team
A working knowledge of the Victorian water industry is highly desirable.
Studies in Science, Geography, Engineering, Environmental Science, secondary teaching and/or equivalent experience in delivering educational tours or learning experiences
Proficiency of safety compliance working with children and a current Working with Children’s Check
