Mobile Water Hygiene Technician - JLL Workplace Management
Position Overview: The Water Hygiene Technician will be responsible for maintaining water system safety and compliance across various sites / facilities, ensuring adherence to HSG274 guidelines and relevant water hygiene legislation. This role involves conducting routine water system maintenance, monitoring, testing, and documentation to prevent Legionella and other waterborne risks.
Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will perform water temperature monitoring and recording, conduct weekly water system flushing procedures in accordance with established protocols, and carry out chlorine dioxide dosing system maintenance and calibration. Additional duties include sampling water for microbiological testing, maintaining accurate water hygiene logbooks and documentation, and conducting risk assessments for water systems including cooling towers, hot and cold water services, and emergency shower facilities.
Essential Requirements:
City & Guilds qualification in Water Treatment and Legionella Control (or equivalent)
Minimum 2 years' experience in water hygiene management within facilities management
thorough understanding of HSG274 Parts 1, 2, and 3 guidelines
Experience with water sampling techniques and microbiological testing procedures
Knowledge of chlorine dioxide dosing systems and water treatment chemicals
Ability to interpret water analysis reports and take corrective action
Strong attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and documentation
Valid UK driving license for travel between campus locations
Physical ability to access confined spaces, roof areas, and plant rooms
IT proficiency for digital reporting systems and compliance databases
Desirable Requirements:
IOSH Working Safely or Managing Safely certification
Experience working in higher education or large institutional facilities
Knowledge of building services and mechanical plant operations
Confined space entry training and certification
Understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act and COSHH regulations
