Job Description
Manitoba Academy of Chinese Studies is a not-for-profit weekend school, and we have over 300 students. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching and tutoring students of various ages, with a strong ability to create engaging lesson plans that foster language development. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, helping students improve their English skills. Candidates with classroom experience and excellent writing skills are highly preferred.
Duties
Develop and deliver comprehensive English lessons tailored to students’ proficiency levels
Incorporate multimedia and interactive activities to enhance learning engagement
Provide tutoring support for students needing extra assistance in English or other languages
Assess student progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning
Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum materials and share best practices
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance
Support language acquisition in additional languages such as Mandarin, French, Spanish, or Japanese when applicable
Foster a love for language learning among students of diverse backgrounds
Skills
Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of Mandarin is a plus
Experience working with children and familiarity with classroom management techniques
Strong writing skills for creating lesson plans, assessments, and educational materials
Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred; classroom experience is highly valued
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect effectively with students of varying ages and backgrounds
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
Passion for education and cultural exchange to inspire learners worldwide
