About our team/Mō te tīma

Student Health Services (SHS) provide a full range of primary health care services for students at the University of Otago. We have an experienced team of GPs, Nurses, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Administration staff who provide approximately 40,000 appointments per annum. The large and diverse health team and the distinctive campus provide a stimulating and challenging multidisciplinary work environment

The role/Te mahi

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will work both in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals and the wider primary care team at Student Health Services. A stepped care approach is required as well as a sound working knowledge of available referral partners and community resources.

Ideally, you will be an experienced and autonomous clinician who communicates clearly and works well in various team environments. A proven ability to function well under pressure of high clinical demand is essential.

In this role, you will report to the Clinical Group Leader of The Mental Health and Wellbeing Team.

Skills and Experience / Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

To succeed in this role, you will be a registered clinical psychologist with a current APC and a strong interest in supporting young adults. You will bring experience in assessment, short-term intervention, and liaison work (essential), with additional experience in ******* and drug services and group work being advantageous.

You will have:
A flexible, positive, and team-focused approach.
Proven ability to thrive in a busy, structured environment requiring discretion, accuracy, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in the health sector, especially in medical practice, is desirable but not essential.
Familiarity with patient management systems (e.g. Medtech Evolution) is advantageous.
Strong multitasking skills, a sense of urgency, and well-developed computing abilities.
A proactive and collaborative attitude that contributes to a positive team culture.

This is a part-time (30 hours, per week,) fixed term (July 2026) vacancy located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. Hours of work are variable between Monday to Friday 8.30am -8.30pm

You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.

The salary range for this role is $89,269 to $122,388. The successful candidate will be appointed on an appropriate step of the scale dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience.
