Job Description
Tony's Tyres has been keeping Kiwi drivers safely on the road since 1982, and our Whanganui store is a busy, well-equipped workshop with a team that takes real pride in what they do.
We're looking for a Wheel Alignment Technician to join us - and we want to be upfront: we're not just after someone who's done this before. If you've got the attitude, the aptitude, and a genuine interest in vehicles, we'll back you with the training to build a real career here.
The Opportunity
You'll be a key part of our workshop team, performing wheel alignments and adjustments on customer vehicles, and helping customers understand what their vehicle needs and why. You'll also support the wider team with tyre fitments and repairs, and get involved in the day-to-day rhythm of a high-performing store.
This is a full-time role working 47.5hrs across Monday to Saturday.
Your day-to-day will include:
Performing wheel alignments and steering and suspension adjustments using our computerised alignment equipment
Test-driving vehicles to confirm the work is right before handing back the keys
Advising customers on tyre options, vehicle handling and what their car actually needs - no jargon, no pressure
Supporting the team with tyre fitting, puncture repairs and general workshop duties
Completing job cards and paperwork accurately and on time
Keeping your workspace clean, safe and organised
What We're Looking For
We hire for attitude as much as experience. You don't need to have run an alignment machine before, but you do need to bring the right foundation:
A genuine interest in vehicles and hands-on mechanical work
Good physical fitness - this is active, on-your-feet work
A customer-first mindset and the confidence to talk people through what you've found
Strong teamwork and communication skills
A full New Zealand Driver's Licence
Experienced candidates welcome - if you've worked with wheel alignment equipment or in an automotive workshop before, we'd love to hear about it
What's on offer
We know great people have options. Here's what Tony's Tyres brings to the table:
Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience
A modern, well-equipped workshop with a supportive team around you
Genuine training and development - we'll invest in you from day one
Real career pathways within the wider Tony's Tyres and Bridgestone network
Great staff discounts and family buying privileges
A safe, inclusive workplace where your work is valued
Ready to get started?
Whether you're an experienced wheel alignment tech or someone hungry to learn a real trade - if you've got the right attitude and you're ready to show up and do the job well, we want to hear from you.
Apply now with your CV and a brief cover letter telling us a bit about yourself.
Applications are reviewed as they are received - don't wait, apply today.
