Our client is a leading global consulting firm and they are working with their client, who is establishing a bank in the Middle East. The bank aims to provide comprehensive wholesale banking services to clients worldwide. As part of this initiative, our client requires a highly skilled Wholesale Banking Global KYC/AML Expert to join their team.
Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Wholesale Banking Global KYC/AML Expert to support the establishment of a new bank in the Middle East. This is a contract position with a duration of 6 months to 1 year. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in global KYC/AML regulations and practices within the wholesale banking sector. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely, with occasional travel to the Middle East and Singapore.
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement comprehensive KYC/AML policies, procedures, and processes for the wholesale banking operations of the newly established bank.
• Ensure compliance with global KYC/AML regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including those set forth by regulatory bodies such as FATF, FINMA, and local regulatory authorities.
• Conduct thorough due diligence on prospective wholesale banking clients to assess their compliance with KYC/AML requirements and mitigate potential risks.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, legal teams, and risk management, to establish effective KYC/AML frameworks and controls.
• Provide expert guidance and support to the bank's relationship managers and business development teams in identifying and mitigating KYC/AML risks associated with potential clients.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging KYC/AML technologies to ensure the bank's practices align with the latest standards.
• Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to enhance the understanding of KYC/AML requirements among bank employees and stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and regulatory bodies to facilitate effective KYC/AML operations and ensure compliance.
• Conduct periodic internal audits and reviews to assess the effectiveness of the bank's KYC/AML processes and identify areas for improvement.
• Provide timely and accurate reporting on KYC/AML compliance matters to senior management and regulatory authorities as required.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFE) in KYC/AML will be advantageous.
• Extensive experience (minimum 8-10 years) working in global KYC/AML roles within the wholesale banking sector.
• Strong knowledge of global KYC/AML regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including those specific to the Middle East region.
• Proven track record in designing and implementing KYC/AML frameworks and controls within wholesale banking operations.
• Familiarity with KYC/AML technologies, data analytics, and screening tools.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks associated with wholesale banking clients.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Willingness to travel to the Middle East and Singapore as required.
• Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic or other languages is a plus.
