As part of this initiative, our client requires a highly skilled Wholesale Banking Settlements Expert with experience in crypto to join their team.
Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Wholesale Banking Settlements Expert to support the establishment of a new bank in the Middle East. This is a contract position with a duration of 6 months to 1 year. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in wholesale banking settlements, with specific expertise in crypto settlements. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely, with occasional travel to the Middle East and Singapore.
Responsibilities
Design and implement efficient and secure wholesale banking settlements processes and procedures for the newly established bank, with a particular focus on crypto settlements.
Develop and maintain relationships with third-party settlement agents, custodians, and counterparties to ensure smooth and timely settlement of wholesale banking transactions.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to crypto settlements and incorporate them into the bank's settlement framework.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, risk management, and compliance teams, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate settlement-related risks.
Conduct due diligence on potential settlement agents, custodians, and crypto exchanges to assess their credibility, security, and adherence to best practices.
Monitor and reconcile settlement transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of any discrepancies or exceptions.
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to address settlement-related inquiries, escalations, and disputes.
Develop and maintain comprehensive settlement-related documentation, including policies, procedures, and controls.
Provide expert advice and guidance to the bank's operations team on settlement-related matters, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Prepare regular reports and presentations on settlement activities, metrics, and performance indicators for senior management and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications in banking, finance, or crypto-related disciplines will be advantageous.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in wholesale banking settlements, with specific expertise in crypto settlements.
Strong knowledge of settlement processes, regulations, and best practices within the wholesale banking sector, with a focus on crypto settlements.
Familiarity with blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and the associated settlement mechanisms and infrastructure.
Experience in working with settlement agents, custodians, and crypto exchanges, including due diligence and relationship management.
Solid understanding of wholesale banking products and transaction types, including securities, derivatives, foreign exchange, and trade finance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve settlement-related issues and exceptions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Willingness to travel to the Middle East and Singapore as required.
Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements, in relation to crypto settlements.
