We are the leading specialist supplier for the baking industry. We pride ourselves on timely and efficient customer service and we currently supply over 1000 customers throughout Victoria. As a proud member of the Country Wide Foodservice network our customer reach is extended to other states and territories. TIMSTOCK ranges over 2500 products making us the ‘go to’ food service provider for professional bakers and pastry cooks. We operate out of our warehouse and head office facility conveniently located in South-East Melbourne operating our own fleet of distribution vehicles supported by a specialist sales team.
Position Purpose
Timstock 0perates a wholesale shop outlet at its head office facility. The shop provides a direct to customer offer across our product range. Due to internal staff movement, we are looking for an experienced, professional and well presented, full-time shop assistant and experienced customer service agent. The purpose of the role is to manage sales and provide excellent service to customers buying ingredients through the wholesale shop outlet. The shop operates 5 days, M-F from 8.30am to 4.30Pm. The shop is very well supported by our customers and has a solid sales turnover.
Duties and responsibilities
Core duties and responsibilities in this role include but are not limited to:
• Taking sales orders and processing invoices and payments via EFTPOS and manually (cash) as required
• Listening to customer concerns, providing information, and solving problems
• Liaise with warehouse and distribution staff regarding pick and provision of orders
• Pick orders ex “walk ins” and pre-pick pre orders ready for customer collection
• Handling customer complaints, avoiding the need for escalation
• Provide product/ingredient technical information and guidance to customers
• Accurate record keeping of customers interactions
• Perform ad-hoc and project work as directed by the Sales Manager which may include back filling other Customer Service roles
• Cross-sell and up-sell products, provide alternatives or substitutions to customers where possible
• Overseeing the company’s clearance lines and promotions
• Promoting Timstock and its product range to all customers buying through the wholesale outlet.
• Participation in Weekly/Monthly team meetings
• Observe and practice the Timstock Trading House OHS and Quality policy, guidelines, and procedures.
• Other tasks deemed suitable, based on knowledge and experience as required by Management
Mandatory prerequisites
• 2 years’ experience in a retail or wholesale sales outlet environment, preferably within the food service industry and ideally in the bakery segment. Product and system training will be provided.
• Competent selling and promotion skills, always and customer centric
• Extensive customer service and call center skills
• Ability to learn technical aspects of food ingredient products
• Knowledge of the HACCP food safety program advantageous
• Understanding of EFTPOS or similar POS systems
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Team player
• Physically able (role does require handling of bulky items)
• Professionally presented
• Current and clean driver’s license
• Forklift license - not essential but Bonus Points
• Familiar with warehouse operations
• Able to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities
