About your new role
The WHS Management System Officer is a role within the City’s Work Health and Safety Branch responsible for proactively promoting a culture of health and safety through the continued development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Work Health and Safety Management System.
Responsibilities include:
Identify changes to relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, assess their impacts upon Council operations and take appropriate action.
Coordinate the document control, records management and consultation processes associated with the corporate WHSMS and the CSMS
Contribute to the development of Policies and Objectives and Targets.
Contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of WHS procedures, processes and tools that are compliant with legislative requirements and the National Self-insurance Audit Tool.
Administer the electronic publication of organisational WHS documentation.
Maintain the WHSMS intranet site ensuring that information is current and accessible to internal stakeholders.
We're looking for people who have:
Diploma of Work Health and Safety or Equivalent Knowledge
A strong understanding, working knowledge and demonstrable application of the WHS Act and Regulation, WHS codes of practices, standards and the national self-insurer audit tool.
Demonstrated thorough knowledge and substantial experience in developing, reviewing, evaluating and continuously improving WHS management systems (preferably in a self-insured organisation).
Demonstrated effective analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research issues, interpret and analyse information, determine any appropriate course of action and provide sound advice, options or recommendations.
Well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proactively consult and communicate with a range of employees.
The ability to identify, learn and use various technologies including computer systems, programs and packages that are designed to increase organisational efficiency and effectiveness
Current open driver’s licence –class C unrestricted
