Alaska Industrial Hardware, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified Counter Sales employees for our Eagle River retail location. Join our team as a Retail Sales Associate and play a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. In this role, you’ll be the go-to resource for customers—processing transactions, answering questions, and ensuring every order is pulled, prepared, and ready with accuracy and care. You’ll stay actively engaged throughout the day, from managing point-of-sale and warehouse systems to staging orders and supporting daily store operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Point Of Sale (POS) transactions
Process Total Warehouse Logistics (TWL) transactions
Assure proper service and care is given to every customer
Pull and prepare customer orders quickly and accurately
Box and stage orders in a designated area for customer pick up
Take accurate notes and follow-up as required
Promptly and professionally answer the phone
Complete daily assignments at the direction of the store management team
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic computer skills
Basic knowledge of products sold
Ability to read, write, and perform basic math
Basic knowledge of UOMs, Shipping, and Transfer Units
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Must be self-motivated, being able to complete tasks during unsupervised periods
Preferred
Background in the construction or mechanics trade
Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
Proven work experience as a Retail Sales Associate, Sales Representative, or similar role

Frequent pulling and stocking inventory items onto carts, or with material handling equipment

Job is performed in an indoor retail store setting
Exposure to computer screens and requires use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system
Ability to properly use general warehouse material handling equipment
Follow all safety rules and procedure and properly using all safety gear
Possess the proper situational awareness to work safely in a warehouse environment where you and others are using and operating forklifts, pallet jacks, packaging machines, ladders, box cutter and other potentially dangerous equipment and tools
Maintain a safe work environment, both inside and outside the store and comply with OSHA and MSDS standards
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
