Job Description
Select, inspect, and prepare timber or wood-based materials to ensure they meet quality standards prior to machining.
Set up and operate woodworking machinery, including planers, saws, routers, moulders, lathes, and borers, to accurately cut, shape, and finish timber components.
Monitor machinery during production, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality, efficiency, and compliance with tolerances.
Measure and inspect finished components using precision instruments to confirm they meet specifications and quality standards.
Maintain, sharpen, and repair cutting tools, blades, jigs, and machine parts to ensure consistent accuracy and productivity.
Carry out routine maintenance on machinery and promptly report any mechanical issues to minimise downtime.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures and industry regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Collaborate with supervisors, cabinetmakers, and other tradespeople to integrate machined components effectively into projects.
Contribute to the development and improvement of production processes to increase efficiency and reduce material waste.
Keep accurate records of production, quality checks, and machine maintenance according to company procedures.
