Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior WordPress Backend Developer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. You will lead the development of robust backend solutions for our WordPress websites, ensuring seamless integration with external systems and delivering outstanding user experiences. Your expertise in PHP, REST API, custom theme development, plugin development, and headless architecture will be vital in driving project success.
Responsibilities:
Develop custom WordPress themes, plugins, and functionalities using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Implement optimized RESTful APIs for seamless integration with external systems.
Customize WordPress themes, ensuring responsiveness and adherence to design specifications.
Mentor and guide junior developers in plugin development and coding best practices.
Architect and implement headless architecture, decoupling the frontend and backend of WordPress.
Optimize WordPress websites for performance, scalability, and security.
Troubleshoot and debug complex issues related to backend functionality and performance.
Maintain and enhance existing WordPress websites, applying security patches and implementing new features.
Collaborate with the project management team to define requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in WordPress development and related technologies.
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to other team members.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 5 years of proven work experience as a WordPress Backend Developer or similar role.
Strong expertise in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Proficiency in custom theme development and plugin customization.
Understanding of headless architecture and decoupling the frontend and backend.
Proven track record of optimizing WordPress websites for performance, scalability, and security.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in mentoring and guiding junior developers.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of front-end frameworks like React or Vue.js for headless WordPress development.
Familiarity with SEO best practices for WordPress.
Understanding of website security principles and techniques.
