We’re looking for skilled Workplace Relations Advisors to join our Workplace Relations team and play a key role in shaping fair, consistent and legally sound people practice across our organisation.
This is a hands‑on, operational role where you’ll partner closely with WR Business Partners, HR teams and leaders at all levels. You’ll be the trusted expert they turn to when navigating complex employment matters—balancing legal risk, commercial realities and people‑centred outcomes with confidence.
If you enjoy coaching managers through sensitive situations, translating legislation into practical advice, and influencing decisions that uphold both compliance and organisational values, this role will suit you well.
What you’ll be doing
Providing specialist workplace relations advice aligned with New Zealand employment legislation, employment agreements and organisational policies
Leading and managing end‑to‑end employment relations cases, ensuring robust, fair and compliant processes
Partnering with WR and HR Business Partners to support informed, risk‑aware decision‑making
Coaching leaders through challenging people matters, building their capability and confidence
Identifying, influencing and escalating decisions where legal, procedural or values‑based risks exist
Maintaining accurate ER case records and contributing to ER reporting
Supporting union relationships, collective bargaining processes and the implementation of outcomes
Staying current with emerging employment legislation and contributing to policy, process and training updates
Supporting the delivery of the organisation’s workplace relations strategy and legislative change initiatives
What you’ll bring
A tertiary qualification in HR, law or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
At least 3 years’ experience in an HR advisory, HR generalist or ER‑focused role
Strong, practical knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and ER processes
Proven experience coaching and advising managers across different levels of an organisation
Experience working with collective agreements and union relationships
The ability to balance legal risk, commercial considerations and people‑centred outcomes
