Roadside Vehicle Technician Required in Tunbridge Wells, Kent
• Basic Salary £35,000 Core Hours

Key Facts/Info:
• Roadside Vehicle Technician required for Breakdown provider in Tunbridge Wells!
• Our client is one the UKs largest breakdown service providers with a rich history of providing customers support to getting their vehicle back up and running!
• With over 100 years trading experience they are one of the biggest brands within the automotive industry with over 4,000 members of staff providing a best-in-class service to both private individuals and businesses.
• You will need to be qualified to a minimum of Level 2 standard, and ideally have previous experience within vehicle mechanics.
• We’ve been working with this group for over 12 months, they provide additional training and development to ensure your skills stay up to date with the newest vehicles on the road.
• You will be working on combination of Cars and LCVs. This role would suit individuals who love to problem solve on a variety of makes and models of vehicles!

Duties of a Roadside Technician with our Client:
• Responding to breakdown assistance requests where you will handle a diverse range of technical issues.
• Using your technical knowledge to work on the electrical and mechanical systems for a range of vehicles.
• You will use the diagnostic equipment to get to the root cause of faults, carry out technical maintenance, repair or replace parts.
• Ensure their customer vehicles get back on the road where they belong as quickly as possible.
• Helping customers in distressing situations.
What our client expects of their Roadside Vehicle Technician?
• You are a level 2 NVQ or City and Guilds qualified Motor Vehicle Technician
• Be able to demonstrate comprehensive mechanical, electrical and diagnostic experience on vehicles.
• You know how to work in a standard job time structure with a focus on producing compliant, high-quality work.
• Take pride being part of the team and are keen to help colleagues with a hands-on, can-do approach to getting things done.
• You take pride in providing a great customer experience each day - you understand what is important to your customers and suppliers.
• Full UK Driving Licence – with minimal points.

Our waste and recycling services enable local authorities to deliver reliable waste management services, with over 200,000 tons of waste recycled every year. And one of the most important parts of the team our are vehicle mechanics, who ensure that our HGV refuse trucks and street cleansing vehicles can keep our community clean, green and safe for all residents and businesses.

A position has become available for an HGV Mechanic within the workshop department at our Twickenham depot. Working in a friendly and professional team, you will provide essential maintenance within this commercial vehicle workshop environment.

At Serco, we are dedicated to the ongoing development and progression of our mechanic teams, with outstanding training along opportunities to undertake additional qualifications, including OEM training, HGV Driver training and Irtec accreditation.

About You

First and foremost, you’ll need to be an experienced and fully qualified mechanic - preferably with HGV mechanic experience or be willing to undertake additional training to upskill.

To be successful in the role, we require that candidates have electrical and hydraulic fault-finding experience, the ability to carry out general chassis service work, and where possible, full industry recognised qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair).

You should have good written and verbal communication skills, be able to undertake all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair, and general welding skills would be advantageous.

Essential Skills And Experience
• Electrical Fault-Finding experience
• Hydraulic repair experience
• Full industry recognised qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair)
• Good communication skills
• Be able to undertake all aspects of commercial vehicle maintenance and repair

What is Desirable?
• Experience in maintenance of fleet vehicles
• LGV Licence
• Chassis work
• Good written skills (to complete inspection/defect paperwork)
