Description
Teach students who shape the future.
At Contour Education, we don’t just tutor, we transform the way students learn.
We’re looking for driven and committed Year 7-10 Maths Assistant Tutors to join our passionate team as we expand our tutoring offer into Queensland for the very first time, opening our first campus in Upper Mount Gravatt.
Starting in 2026, we’re taking the next big step in our journey - national growth, bringing Contour’s proven programs and student-first approach to Queensland and South Australia.
If you’re someone who wants to be part of Contour’s mission to reshape education, one student at a time, now on a national scale, join us and help inspire the next generation of learners.
As a Year 7-10 Maths Assistant Tutor, you’ll support our lead tutors in dynamic group classes (8–20 students), helping students deepen their understanding, build confidence, and achieve outstanding results, all while sharing your enthusiasm for learning and education. This is your chance to inspire students, grow as a communicator and leader, and pass on your passion to the next generation of high achievers.
This role also offers a hybrid work-from-home component for consultations and text-based support.
Who We Are
At Contour, we’re reshaping education, one student at a time.
Born from the frustration of students who knew the system could be better, we set out to build what we once wished existed: tutoring that actually works. Not generic classes. Not recycled notes. Not overpriced, overcrowded rooms with an out-of-touch teacher who couldn’t relate. But a complete ecosystem of tutoring, resources, and support, meticulously designed to help every student reach their full potential.
Since 2020, over 10,000+ students have trusted Contour to guide their academic journey, and we’ve grown to over 300+ team members. We’ve produced hundreds of 99+ ATARs, tutored the World-Record UCAT scorer, and placed more students into medical school than any school in Australia.
Our growth is a testament to the simple philosophy: Put the student first, always. Everything we design, from our world-class tutor-training programs to our purpose-built campuses, exists to help students master content faster, perform with confidence, and even rekindle the joy of learning.
Contour is a group of three brands united by one goal: to give every student the best chance to achieve their full potential:
Contour Education: Reshaping how students master their high school subjects with small-group tutoring, structured resources, and 1-on-1 support across Maths, Science, and English.
Contour Medprep: Reshaping medical preparation with a proven, step-by-step pathway through the UCAT, interviews, and admissions, led by a team of 100+ medical students.
Contour TestPrep: Reshaping test preparation, starting with the selective entry exam, through rigorous tutoring, mock exams, and data-driven feedback to give students a decisive advantage.
This is Contour. Built by students, for students.
What You Will Do
Support - You'll act as a secondary tutor during classes (most classes have two tutors), helping address student questions and clarifying concepts while the primary tutor teaches.
Consult - Conduct 1-on-1 video consultations outside of class hours, which students can book at no extra cost.
Assist - Provide ongoing text-based support to answer student questions promptly after class.
Review - Proofread and review learning materials (workbooks, notes, SACs/Exams) to ensure quality and accuracy.
Mentor - Be a mentor for students, telling anecdotal stories of success & failure.
Connect - Build genuine connections with students. You're relatable, making it easy to relate and inspire.
Note: All additional support provided to students outside of scheduled class hours is completely free for students, but you'll be fully compensated for your time and effort!
What You Will Bring
High ATAR (95+) and strong subject-specific academic achievements (95+ results in Maths Methods).
First-year university–level knowledge or above in Mathematics.
Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex concepts.
Energy, empathy, independence, and a proactive mindset.
Prior tutoring or teaching experience (preferred, but not essential).
A full academic year commitment (no long-term travel or overseas exchange trips).
Ability to commit to weekly classes (consistent attendance required).
Willingness to travel to our campuses (Upper Mount Gravatt).
Alignment with Contour’s mission (signed NDA and non-compete agreement required).
A genuine passion for helping and motivating students to achieve their potential.
