Job Purpose
The Student Aide will collaborate with other members of staff, including the Learning Resources Department, to support the student’s self-regulation, communication and social skills, as outlined in the student’s Individual Support Plan. Support will be based in the classroom with the Aide supporting the student’s development alongside their peers.

Key Responsibilities
Establish and nurture a trusting relationship with the student through consistent, respectful, and supportive interactions that promote emotional safety and connection.
Support the student’s social-emotional development and wellbeing by recognizing emotional cues, modeling appropriate behavior, and using strategies to help the student regulate emotions and build resilience.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to identify and implement effective strategies, accommodations, and activities that meet the student’s individual needs.
Refer to and follow the Individual Support Plan (ISP) to ensure consistent language, expectations, and approaches are used by all adults working with the student.
Anticipate and respond to the student’s individual needs, including emotional triggers, sensory sensitivities, and behavioral patterns. Use proactive strategies to prevent escalation and promote engagement.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to teachers and support staff regarding the student’s progress, challenges, and successes. Maintain clear and accurate records as needed.
Maintain open and professional communication with the student’s family, sharing relevant updates and collaborating to support the student’s development both at school and at home.
Share information with other staff members as appropriate, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism while promoting a coordinated approach to support.
Actively promote and model inclusive practices, helping the student participate meaningfully in classroom and school activities alongside peers.
Other Responsibilities
Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including those related to behavior management, safeguarding, and confidentiality.
Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, especially in situations involving physical behaviors such as biting or aggression. Respond calmly and appropriately to ensure safety.
Attend training and professional development sessions as requested, to stay informed about best practices in supporting students with social-emotional and behavioral needs.
Qualifications
Experience in Early Childhood preferred
Basic computer and technology skills preferred, though training in specific programs can be provided.
