Responsibilities
In this role, you will learn and perform laboratory procedures used during the development of vaccines, which may include but not be limited to bacterial and virological assays, tissue culture, ELISA, in vitro protein expression, virus purification, serological assays and PCR
The internship may also involve work with animals
Employees working in roles that the Company determines require routine collaboration with external stakeholders, such as customer-facing commercial, or research-based roles, will be expected to comply not only with Company policy but also with policies established by such external stakeholders (for example, a requirement to be vaccinated against COVID-1+ in order to access a facility or meet with stakeholders)

The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Animal Health Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.
Our company's Animal Health Division is offering a summer internship opportunity at our De Soto, Kansas Research & Development (R&D) facility as a member of a research team developing new solutions for protection of swine against infectious disease pathogens. In this role, you will learn and perform laboratory procedures used during the development of vaccines, which may include but not be limited to bacterial and virological assays, tissue culture, ELISA, in vitro protein expression, virus purification, serological assays and PCR. The internship may also involve work with animals.
This position does not provide housing or relocation assistance.
Required:

Preferred experience and skills:
• Experience working in a science laboratory and applicable safety procedures.
• Understand general microbiological, biochemical, immunological principles.
• Have general computer skills in word processing, data management, and graphics.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to keep accurate records.
