The Garry Hurvitz Center for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) is a child and youth mental health center integrated with the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). GH-CCMH is also a member of the Thriving Minds Mental Health Access Collaborative with CAMH and SickKids and a core service provider in the Toronto sector of infant, child and youth mental health services funded by the Ministry of Health. GH-CCMH provides prevention, early intervention and health promotion services across the city, funded by MOH and other sources. As such, the Center has an ambitious agenda to provide the highest quality, evidence-based care, offering a range of services from prevention and early intervention to counseling and therapy, assessment and intensive supports. Services are offered in person and in virtual format. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time permanent 1.0 FTE Clinical Practice Lead in our Intensive Services Programs.

Reporting to the Advance Practice Lead for Psychology & Interprofessional Education with matrix reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinical Practice Lead will carry the following responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Management

Acts as a member of the Management team within assigned Clinical or Participant service.
Supports day to day operations within the assigned program with emphasis on clinical practice, client safety and quality of care.
Supports Senior Clinical Manager in drafting of clinical role descriptions, recruiting regulated and non-regulated health professionals and providing ongoing development and performance management to the interprofessional team (Physician roles are excepted).
Undertakes delegated management functions on behalf of Senior Manager.
Clinical Supervision and Practice Leadership

Is a member of the Clinical Practice Leadership team.
Defines, demonstrates and communicates core clinical competencies relevant to the client population served by the program and the clinical/ participant services it provides.
In collaboration with the Clinical Practice Leadership team, develops, communicates and supports standards of practice within the assigned program.
Implements clinical competencies and standards of practice through education, clinical modeling and direct supervision.
Maintains a program of peer supervision and limited individual supervision within the program.
As a member of the Clinical Practice Leadership Team supports development and implementation of standards of practice in relation to digital documentation
Ensures implementation of measurement-based care within the program and supports integration of measurement-based care within standards of practice.
In support of above, maintains currency with relevant literature and awareness of practice standards recommended by regulatory colleges and relevant quality frameworks (e.g. The Knowledge Institute for Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, The Centre for Excellence)
Acts as a resource to teams and individuals in relation to challenging clinical situations
Maintains a small case load within the program.
Supports or leads investigation of critical incidents within program or on behalf of other programs.
Specific to Intensive Services

Provides leadership with respect to standards of practice within a milieu and classroom treatment setting in both children and youth
Ensures standards of client and staff safety are known and implemented across the program
Works with program psychologists and other members of interprofessional team in development of and implementation of evidence informed therapeutic modalities appropriate to children and youth
Supports implementation of peer mentor role within the youth program
In both child and youth programs supports learning, knowledge transfer, training with respect to harm reduction, neurodevelopmental difference, identity-based trauma, developmental trauma, equity and inclusivity, cultural humility (provides trainings, sources expertise, empowers knowledgeable staff).
Provides consultation services to interprofessional teams in other clinical programs across the organization on an as needed basis.
Reviews incident and serious occurrence reports handling complaints in collaboration with the Senior Clinical Manager
Responds to crisis calls, clients with escalated concerns or client grievances
Intensive Service Core Competencies and Standards of Practice

Ensures provision of individualized assessments, treatments and follow-up services for individual/family/group therapy and treatment
Ensures provision of case management, liaison and referral services for clients
Coordinates services with internal and external service providers requesting and reviewing existing documentation and reports to inform client service and treatment planning
Ensures the development of service plans that support treatment planning in collaboration with family, supervisor/manager and inter-professional teams
Qualifications

Master’s degree in social work or equivalent and a minimum of three years related supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate employees
Membership with the appropriate regulatory college such as Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or College of Psychotherapists
First aid, CPR, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
Experience and/or formal training in any of the following is an asset:
standard models of family therapy and group therapy are an asset (e.g., Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy)
trauma informed approaches and understanding of developmental trauma in individual, family, group and milieu therapies
clinical mental health assessment and intervention with culturally, linguistically diverse populations and gender diverse and neuro-divergent populations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively deal with all levels of staff and clients
Excellent problem-solving skills to coordinate complex crisis situations and solutions
Ability to incorporate values of a culturally competent practice of diversity and inclusiveness in all aspects of work
Knowledge of MS Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as ability to use office equipment efficiently (telephone, photocopier, scanner, and fax)
Ability to work flexible hours and, on occasion, travel
Other
