Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive academic counselling to students and their parents, addressing their queries and concerns regarding course selection, career pathways, and academic performance.
Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions with students to assess their strengths, weaknesses, and interests, and guide them in choosing appropriate academic programs.
Assist students in developing personalized study plans, setting goals, and creating strategies for academic improvement.
Stay updated on the latest educational trends, career opportunities, and university admission requirements to provide accurate and relevant information to students.
Collaborate with teachers and academic staff to identify students who may benefit from additional support or specialized programs.
Organize and conduct group counselling sessions, workshops, and seminars to enhance students' study skills, time management, and exam preparation techniques.
Support students in the college application process, including researching and recommending suitable universities, reviewing application materials, and providing guidance on interviews and entrance exams.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of counselling sessions, student progress, and feedback to track student development and measure the effectiveness of counselling strategies.
Collaborate with parents, teachers, and school administrators to address student behavioural or academic concerns and implement appropriate interventions.
Participate in professional development activities to enhance counselling skills and stay abreast of advancements in the field.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
Proven experience as an academic counsellor or in a similar role, preferably in an educational institution.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to empathize and connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
Strong knowledge of academic and career pathways, entrance exams, and university admissions processes.
Familiarity with counselling techniques, career assessment tools, and academic resources.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple counselling sessions and administrative tasks.
Proficiency in computer applications and counselling software for record-keeping and data analysis.
A genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting students' academic and personal growth.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
