Role Description
We’re looking for a Handbag Designer to join our growing team and take ownership of end-to-end product development, from concept sketches to production-ready samples. This role is ideal for someone with strong design instincts, solid technical skills, and a practical understanding of what today’s customer actually needs from a bag. You’ll work closely with the founders and vendors to bring new designs to life, refine existing ones based on customer feedback, and ensure every bag is both visually compelling and functionally relevant.
Responsibilities
Design Development
• Sketch and develop original handbag designs aligned with Lililo’s aesthetic
• Build tech packs and mood boards with detailed specifications for sampling
• Select materials, hardware, and trims with attention to both form and function
• Manage sampling rounds with clear, solution-oriented feedback
Customer-Driven Iteration
• Review product feedback, return data, and wear-test insights to inform design changes
• Track performance of SKUs across collections to identify improvement areas
• Incorporate practical features that address common pain points like weight, capacity, and durability
Trend & Market Research
• Monitor global and Indian trends in handbags, accessories, and adjacent categories
• Identify design gaps or whitespace opportunities in the mid-premium market
• Benchmark quality, construction, and price positioning across similar brands
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work with the founding team on product direction, launches, and timelines
• Partner with vendors and manufacturers through sampling and pre-production
• Coordinate with marketing to ensure key design details are communicated clearly
Requirements
• 1–3 years of experience in handbag or accessory design
• Degree in Fashion, Accessory, or Product Design preferred
• Strong command of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint for spec sheets and costing
• Working knowledge of materials, construction, and vendor communication
• Detail-oriented with the ability to balance creative design with practical functionality
