The ideal candidate demonstrates the following core competencies:
• Financial Acumen: Understanding of accounting and financial principles. Demonstrates strong ability to analyze financial data and interpret results
• Attention to Quality & Accuracy: Thorough in reviewing financial documents; accurate in data entry and financial calculations.
• Audit Support: Successfully assists with internal and external audits. Provides necessary documentation and support during audits.
• Regulatory Compliance Has an understanding and adherence to relevant accounting regulations and compliance standards; keeps up to date with accounting rules and regulations
• Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software and financial management systems. Able to adapt quickly to new technologies and softwares.
• Collaboration: Works well across functions and groups; champions best practices.
• Analytical Thinking: Possesses problem solving skills in identifying and resolving discrepancies. Strong ability to analyze complex data sets and financial information.
• Personal Organization: Allocates own time efficiently; effectively handles multiple demands and competing priorities
• Ethical Conduct: Maintaining confidentiality and integrity in financial reporting. Adherence to ethical and professional standard in accounting practices

The Role: In a Nutshell

Reporting directly to the VP, Finance, the Sr. Accountant is responsible for the development and implementation of all financial information systems and accounting and reporting procedures and workflows, as well as producing monthly financial statements and preparing and entering standard accounting entries.

Responsibilities:

Accounting:
• Preparation of journal entries to record all revenues and associated cash receipts.
• Maintenance of prepaid expenses schedule including preparation of monthly journal entries to recognize expenses.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements for all cash accounts.
• Analyze balance sheet, revenue, and expenses accounts and prepare monthly account reconciliations.
• Preparation of various schedules in conjunction with the annual audit process.
• Preparation of weekly cash forecast.
• Research accounting topics as needed.
• Work with the external Audit and Tax team.

Financial Operations:
• Preparation of client invoicing - analyze client trends.
• Manage account payable and accounts receivable.
• Sales and use tax recording and filings.
• Payroll support.
• Partner with other finance/accounting staff to implement streamlined procedures and workflow.

Financial Information Systems & General Ledger:
• Maintain the general ledger in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Maintain and update Chart of Account and recommended developing and improving financial systems, financial policies and internal control procedures.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in an applicable field such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, Health Care, or Business Administration.
• Minimum 2-3 years of total experience in financial management/reporting, budgeting, grant reporting, PC based accounting systems, electronic spreadsheets; preparing, reviewing, and presenting performance data.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience working with external Auditors and Tax professionals.
• Quickbooks experience
• Expert at Microsoft Excel/ Google Sheets
• Experience with Insperity, Expensify, Bill and Brex preferred.
