Overview:
Fountain Tire is seeking a dedicated Accountant to be a key player in our dynamic stores accounting team based at our South Edmonton Corporate Head Office.
Purpose:
This role is responsible for ensuring all entries are recorded in the proper periods thereby enabling the completion of accurate and timely monthly financial statements

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with established policies and procedures
Support the field with guidance on accounting transactions, processes, and investigation of any related queries
Ensure month end entries and intercompany reconciliations are accurately completed by the specified deadlines
Ensure subsidiary records for accrued purchases agree to the general ledger
On a quarterly basis ensure that other significant balance sheet accounts are reasonable and any necessary entries are recorded by the specified deadline
Ensure quarterly financial statement reviews are completed with the management team and the necessary entries are made by the specified deadline
On an annual basis, ensure the store budget process is complete and accurate for budget delivery by the specified deadlines
Ensure budget support is provided to the stores and operations are effective
Participate in the store inventory count process, including training and review of count results
Ensure inventory count support is provided to the stores and operations are effective
Complete assigned year-end tasks by the specified deadlines
Prepare corporate tax returns as required
Complete working papers, lead sheets and other risk analysis, including the necessary entries to ensure accuracy
Participate in the documentation, recording, and completion of share transactions, new store start-ups and closures as required
What does it take to get on track?
College diploma with a major in accounting and 3 to 5 years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Enrolment in the CPA program would be considered a definite asset
Working knowledge of financial statement preparation and reporting
Proven organizational and time management skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing demands within tight deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other Financial Reporting software (Microsoft D365, Power BI, TaxPrep)
