We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for an Accountant within our Accounting team to help support our Work Furniture Group business. Leggett & Platt is North America’s leading independent manufacturer of office furniture components and mechanisms. Our Work Furniture business produces task and finished components, as well as select lines of private label finished seating. From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and wire components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, Work Furniture brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality contract furniture products.
As an Accountant, you will have the opportunity to dive deep into operations across four West Michigan branches and support critical finance functions that drive business decisions. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by supporting forecasting, financial close, payroll, and compliance—empowering strategic growth and efficiency. The team you will be working with is collaborative and detail-oriented, and values high standards, thoughtful analysis, and cross-functional problem-solving.
So, what will you be doing as an Accountant?
Supporting Shared Services with AP, AR, payroll, credit management, and continuous improvement
Performing month-end close activities timely and consistently per local and corporate guidelines
Assisting with internal controls, SOX compliance, and external audits
Ensuring compliance with company policies and identifying opportunities for improvement
Collaborating with team members across HR, IT, Operations, and Purchasing
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred, or an Associate’s degree with 3+ years of accounting experience
1–3 years of accounting experience
Familiarity with SOX 404 and GAAP principles
Strong proficiency in Excel and general ledger management
Experience with manufacturing accounting software
Things we consider a plus:
Hands-on experience with Syteline or D365
Comfort working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing setting
Strong written and verbal communication skills
