Primary Responsibilities:
The Accountant is responsible for the bookkeeping and other related duties.
Essential Duties:
• General bookkeeping duties, including but not limited to verifying the daily work and summaries of all employees; posting journal entries to the General Ledger, verifying balances of the general ledger and appropriate subsidiaries, reconciliation of various accounts, adjusting entries, accrual entries, settlement of funds for participation loans, payment of expenses and other accounts payables, monitoring the balances of daily accounts, IRA and back-up withholding tax deposits and reporting, etc
• Assists in the maintenance of the investment portfolio.
• Post daily transactions to the Cash Journal, General Ledger, and appropriate subsidiary ledgers.
• Reconciliation of various bank accounts. Monitor balances of the daily accounts.
• Payment of expenses and other accounts payables.
• Assists with the preparation of financial reports.
• To provide positive member experiences at every touch point (multiple delivery channels). Provide members with information concerning the credit union, its products, services and policies.
• Serves as a back-up for other Accounting Department personnel.
• Assists in maintaining the furniture and equipment record.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
• Accounting degree preferred.
• Requires 5 years accounting experience. Previous experience in financial institutions preferred. Must have basic knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
• Must be organized, analytical with an attention to detail and able to meet deadlines with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects/tasks.
• Must be able to communicate (both in oral and written form) effectively and professionally to internal and external customers.
