MCCS Infra is currently working on a number of projects, including the construction of a cable-stayed bridge on the Katra-Banihal section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project, and the upgradation of a section of National Highway 244 in Jammu and Kashmir. Role Overview :
As an Accountant at our highway construction company, you will play a vital role in managing the financial operations and accounting activities related to construction projects. Your extensive experience in construction accounting and financial management will be essential in ensuring accurate financial reporting, budget control, and compliance with relevant regulations. This position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, specifically within the construction industry. A B.Com degree in Commerce is required, while an M.Com degree is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee and manage financial operations for construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Monitor project costs, analyze variances, and ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Prepare accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, providing insights into project financial performance.
- Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to manage vendor contracts, payments, and financial transactions.
- Perform regular audits of financial records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
- Implement effective internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
Project Accounting:
- Manage project-specific accounting activities, such as tracking project revenues, costs, and expenses.
- Prepare project invoices and progress billings in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Coordinate with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate project cost allocations.
- Monitor and analyze project cash flows, ensuring sufficient funds for project needs.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial forecasts.
General Accounting:
- Manage general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and customer accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and other regulatory compliance filings.
- Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Stay updated with accounting regulations and industry best practices, implementing changes as necessary.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, cost control, and financial management.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in a construction environment.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Solid understanding of relevant accounting regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum educational qualification: B.Com in Commerce. Preferred qualification: M.Com.
