Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various accounting practices, including corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, and financial management. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a solid understanding of financial concepts, GAAP, and regulatory reporting. The Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial statements, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Conduct account reconciliations and maintain the general ledger
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis
Ensure compliance with SOX, securities law, and other regulatory requirements
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Provide mentorship to junior staff members in accounting practices
Prepare tax returns and manage tax-related inquiries
Conduct audits to ensure accuracy of financial records
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for various accounting tasks
Write and interpret financial reports for management review
Skills
Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and debits & credits
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
Experience with financial report writing and interpretation
Understanding of governmental accounting principles is beneficial
Ability to analyze complex financial data for decision-making purposes
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within the team
