Job Description
The Accountant will assist in managing day-to-day accounting and finance requirements for the Construction Team. The ideal employee for this position is a skilled and resourceful individual who is reliable and committed to providing excellent service to internal Canco stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
Perform and ensure accuracy of financial records through bank reconciliations, and prepare, analyze, and report on financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
Contribute to the shortening of overall cycle times.
Assist with external audits and tax filings.
Coordinate with internal departments to gather financial data and support decision-making processes.
Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting standards.
Performing ad-hoc administrative/reporting duties as they arise.
Financial Reporting & Budgeting
Monitor, update, and prepare performance and budget reports.
Generate and present financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, along with monthly and annual accounting results, budgets, and forecasts.
Oversee revenues and expenses.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management
Manage and monitor the department's accounts payable and receivable.
Complete EFT authorization forms/requests to facilitate vendor payments
Compliance & Process Improvement
Ensure adherence to GAAP, company policies, and compliance requirements.
Assess current accounting operations and processes, recommending and implementing improvements.
Assist in planning and executing the annual audit in collaboration with external auditors.
Collaboration & Team Support
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Assist in overseeing departmental accounting and control functions.
Undertake other duties as required to support the accounting functions effectively.
Complete additional projects related to financial oversite of the Construction Department as requested by the immediate supervisor.
