Job Description
About the Role:
The Accountant will support the Company’s accounting and financial reporting functions, with a focus on Accounts Receivable (AR). This role is responsible for ensuring accurate billing, timely cash collections, and proper revenue recognition, while also supporting general ledger accounting and month-end close activities.
Job Duties and Accountabilities:
General Accounting & Close Support
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including Cash, AR, reserves, and inventory-related accounts
Track and analyze gross sales, deductions, net revenue, and margins
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Support internal and external audits and SOX/internal control compliance
Accounts Receivable & Revenue Accounting
Manage accounts receivable processes, including cash application and collections
Monitor customer aging reports and follow up on past-due balances
Research and resolve customer deductions, chargebacks, short pays, and disputes
Account for trade promotions, billbacks, and allowances in coordination with Sales
Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP
Maintain customer account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
Cross-Functional & Process Improvement
Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve billing and deduction issues
Identify opportunities to improve AR processes, reduce days sales outstanding (DSO), and strengthen controls
Assist with ERP and system enhancements related to AR and revenue processes
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–5 years of accounting experience (public or corporate)
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Work Location: New York City, Hybrid (3 days in the office)
Pay range and compensation package - $70,000 - $80,000 per year with annual bonus potential.
