This role provides system support and undertakes a range of accounting activities in accordance with accounting practices, standards, and legislation to ensure departmental outcomes are achieved. You will provide financial advice on financial matters to management and team members.
Ensuring adequate controls and processes are in place within council to reduce the risk of financial non-compliance and the integrity of the data recorded in council’s financial systems is maintained by creating appropriate reporting mechanisms and completing periodic reconciliations.
Additionally, you will also
assist in the planning and delivery of council’s annual financial statements, annual report, and other periodic financial reports, including the development of appropriate notes and work papers
assist in the planning and delivery of Council’s annual budget, quarterly reviews and long-term financial forecasts as required
About you
We are looking for someone who has extensive knowledge and application of accounting practice, procedures, standards, and legislation, and who holds a Degree in Accounting and/or Commerce or equivalent and has been in a similar or within a large organisation.
You will have experience providing financial advice to key stakeholders with strong people and relationship management skills to effectively communicate and engage to all levels of the business.

strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing quality customer service
excellent time management skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
