Summary
Supports the financial and regulatory functions of the Bank, its Holding Company, subsidiary, and divisions. The Accounting function includes maintaining the Bank’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives for financial and regulatory reporting. The Accounting Associate position supports the Accounting area with accounting related duties to include preparing financial statements, monthly reporting, account analysis, account reconciliations, and assist accounts payable function. Reports directly to the Accounting Manager.
Essential Functions
Applies GAAP and regulatory accounting principles to prepare and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to accounting standards.
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and other reports for management and the Board of Directors for the Bank, its holding company, subsidiaries and divisions.
Assist with day to day and month end financial processes to include general ledger entries, maintain/update accounting schedules, and all account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and reasonableness of recorded transactions (i.e. fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, etc.).
Prepare and maintain revenue related journal entries for the Company’s subsidiary.
Prepare related reconciliations for the Company’s subsidiary.
Reviews weekly payment to vendors to ensure proper approval, general ledger allocation, etc. and assist with 1099 reporting process.
Support the accounts payable function as necessary.
Perform the daily reconciliations for Bank’s correspondent accounts.
Assists in preparation of audited financial statements and regulatory reports (i.e. Call Report, FR Y-9SP, FR 2900, etc.).
Assists with preparation of schedules as required during financial audits and bank examinations (by Federal Reserve Bank and Texas Department of Banking).
Support Treasury and Tax function as needed in the preparation of Federal and State income/franchise tax returns and other information tax returns.
Assists in the preparation of budget schedules by collecting and analyzing financial data from various departments.
Performs data extracts and analysis as requested (Excel, Adobe, Query, etc.)
Assists with accounting department projects as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Minimum of 2 years of related accounting experience.
Strong computer skills a must to include but not limited to Excel, Word, and Outlook (i.e. sort, pivot, subtotal, extract, concatenate, convert, calculation, etc.), and data analytics tools.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks at one time to accomplish goals and objectives of the department with efficiency, attention to detail, and within set deadlines.
Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal in order to communicate effectively with all levels within the Company.
Ability to work long hours during peak times.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality in personnel and other sensitive Company matters.
