Description
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounting Manager in the non-profit sector, based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role involves maintaining financial records, ensuring accurate recording and processing, and providing support for day-to-day staff inquiries.
Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee the processing of payroll, ensuring all necessary information is received in a timely manner.
• Oversee the financial reporting process, including the development of financial reports in Blackbaud and managing journal entries.
• Handle bank reconciliations, working towards a zero balance.
• Collaborate with staff to resolve day-to-day questions and issues.
• Manage and improve the use of Blackbaud for financial reporting and account reconciliation.
• Oversee the accounts receivable process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations related to grants, unemployment, and workers compensation.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounting processes.
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing solutions to improve accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Utilize ADP Workforce Now for various financial services and data management.
Requirements
• Proficiency in ADP - Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now
• Experience with Government Grants and Private Grants management
• Ability to prepare and review Journal Entries
• Strong skills in Financial Reporting
• Familiarity with Blackbaud software
• Proficiency in Bank Reconciliations and Account Reconciliation processes
• Knowledge of Department SOP's
• Experience in Fund Accounting - Non-Profit
• Prior experience in Non-profit Accounting
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or other relevant certification is preferred.
