Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our organization’s financial operations. We are a 3PL warehouse and Transportation company. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in corporate and non-profit accounting, with a strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting. This role requires excellent leadership abilities to mentor accounting staff and ensure accurate financial reporting across various platforms, including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and PeopleSoft. The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, managing budgets, and supporting strategic financial planning to support organizational growth.
Responsibilities
Knowledge in Warehousing and Transportation
Lead and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and reconciliations.
Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
Manage accounts payable and receivable functions while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as SOX and securities law.
Prepare and interpret financial reports, including cash flow analysis, financial statement analysis, and budget variance analysis.
Ensure adherence to GAAP, accrual accounting principles, and regulatory requirements for governmental or non-profit entities.
Oversee payroll processing using various financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft.
Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits to verify compliance with financial policies and regulations.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data accuracy.
Mentor and develop accounting staff through training on technical accounting concepts like double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and account analysis.
Support forecasting efforts by analyzing financial data to inform budgeting decisions and financial management strategies.
Stay current on developments in securities law, Wills/trusts & estate law as they relate to organizational finances.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong background in GAAP, SOX compliance, public accounting or non-profit accounting.
Extensive knowledge of financial concepts including financial statement preparation, interpretation, analysis, and reporting.
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required.
Familiarity with regulatory reporting standards for governmental or non-profit organizations.
Strong understanding of technical accounting issues including accrual accounting, securities law implications, and complex journal entries.
Experience mentoring teams in a fast-paced environment with excellent leadership skills.
Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation tasks accurately under tight deadlines.
