Position Overview:
The Accounting Supervisor will help oversee the accounting operations. Responsibilities include supervising accounting staff, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the Director of Accounting and Administration by reviewing financial data, reconciling accounts and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing financial statements as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts to general ledger.
Perform bank reconciliation.
Prepare financial statements and reports.
Ensure compliance with industry-specific financial regulations.
Oversee budgeting and forecasting activities.
Conduct freight auditing to verify accuracy of invoices and recover overcharges.
Monitor and report on vehicle depreciation and other asset management activities.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate cost allocation and financial reporting.
Implement and maintain accounting systems and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by management
What You Bring to Us:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of transportation industry regulations and accounting practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience in EDI and fleet management technology is highly desirable.
Ability to work collaboratively and lead a team effectively.
Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
Professional under pressure and deadline-driven.
Able to sit for long periods and perform desk-based tasks.
Manual dexterity for office equipment use (e.g., typing, filing).
Visual acuity for reading documents and computer use
