The Accounting Supervisor oversees accounting operations, which includes accounts payable and financial accounting. Provides financial reporting and ensures accounting operations and practices adhere to the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Supervises accounting staff and provides training to new hires and identifies training opportunities for current staff. Credit Union or Banking a must, would consider a Sr. Accountant looking for the next career move.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Manage and oversee the daily operations and month-end close, quarter-end and year-end close.
• Monitor and analyze accounting data and review analysis for monthly and quarterly GL account variance.
• Supervise accounting functions including Accounts Payable, GL etc.
• Monitors accrued tax payable and other tax related assignments; oversees year-end accounts payable tax documentation processing.
• Assists the Controller in Asset Liability Management (ALM).
• Preparation of reports for monthly board meetings and Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO) meetings.
• Serves as backup to Senior Accountant.
• Prepares and/or reviews monthly reports including, but not limited to, financial statements.
• Prepares the quarterly FFIEC Call Report and any other required regulatory reports.
• Ensures monthly general ledger certifications are completed.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and or equivalent experience.
• 4 years’ experience within a financial institution, banking and or credit union
• Effective communication skills to interact with various Bank departments and supervise team members.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of FIS Horizon preferred.
