A rare opportunity has arisen in our Business Services Team for an A'level apprentice. As a trainee accountant and working alongside qualified accountant team members you will have the opportunity to work on clients accounts and develop and manage client relationships.
In this position, Dunkley's Accountants will sponsor you to study the AAT qualification and either the ACCA or ICAEW qualifications.

The Position
This is key role within our Business Services Team is responsible for providing accounts services to our clients. Working closely with our Sub Team Leads you will support the managers to ensure the department is performing effectively so that the team can deliver an efficient and professional service as well as developing your professional accounting knowledge.
The role includes monthly and quarterly bookkeeping, preparation and review of VAT returns under different VAT schemes and use of various software. You will have opportunities to prepare and produce monthly and quarterly management accounts and undertake the completion of year end compliance including statutory accounts and Corporation Tax returns.
Responsibilities include:
To ensure assignments are conducted in accordance with procedures.
To ensure all assignments are performed at the appropriate time and both internal and external deadlines are met.
Bookkeeping & management accounts preparation.
Raising invoices.
Bank reconciliations.
VAT reconciliations.
Understanding of VAT returns and the different VAT schemes to be used.
Reconciling debtors and creditors.
Payroll journals.
Regular use of cloud and desktop software including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Free Agent.
Preparation of quarterly management accounts.
Preparation of statutory accounts and corporation tax returns.
Maintaining the team’s planning board and keeping GPM up to date.
Qualifications and Experience
Hold 3 A levels, or equivalent qualifications.
Want to work towards achieving the AAT qualification as part of your career progression.
Have demonstrable experience in using the Microsoft suite and either have experience of or be prepared to learn how to use QBO, Xero and IRIS systems.
Have experience working in a role within an accountancy practice.

To understand and work proactively towards achieving own contribution to the departmental business plan.
Business Development
To form good professional relationships with clients, creating an environment whereby clients feel happy to refer their contacts to.
To actively endeavour to make non clients aware of the services and benefits that can provide.
To build own network of professional contacts and encourage referrals.
To assist with business development events as required.
Liaise with Potential new client leads as requested.
