to fill a Temporary Full Time Activity Worker Position for a period of 3 months.
The position will then move to a Casual health care worker position with seniority and replacement activity worker
as needed.
Position: Activity Worker/Coordinator TEMPORARY (F/T Position)
Position length: Around 3 months
HRS: 0800-1600 hrs Mon-Fri (Stat holidays off with pay) Start time may vary based on client appts.
RATE OF PAY: CA$27.92 - CA$29.60 per hour
MUST HAVE:
* BC DRIVERS LICENSE CLASS 5 USE OF PERSONAL VEHICLE for transporting clients on appointments or activities.
If required, Vehicle Insurance Upgrades coverage will be paid per BCGEU Agreement PAID MILEAGE RATE: as per BCGEU Agreement
* Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
* Criminal Record Checks will be required if you are a successful candidate.
DUTIES: The Activity Worker provides service to mental health adult (male and female) clients in four licensed community based rehabilitative facilities (group homes) (8 clients in one facility; 10 clients in three facilities. Implements social and recreational activities with clients in coordination with Administrator and Healthcare Workers and client schedules.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participates in the development of activities by co-ordinating program schedules with clients, healthcare workers, Facility Nurse, Administrator and professional resources.
2. Accompanies clients in small groups or individual outings such as appointments, shopping, banking, recreational and leisure activities.
3. Schedules activities in the individual facilities encouraging group participation.
4. Observes clients and their environments, reports unsafe conditions and behavioural, physical, and/or cognitive changes to Administrator and Healtcare Workers .
5. Promotes client participation in activities, and provides feedback to facility staff, and Administrator regarding the performance and progress of clients.
6. Receives client feedback, inquiries, and complaints, and responds as required.
7. Planning, arranging and setting up furnishings and equipment for clients” activities.
8. Maintains an inventory of equipment, tools, and materials related to on site activities.
9. Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as statistics, progress reports, activity participation reports, observation reports, and client activity profiles.
10.Refers clients to other programs/services and provides information regarding available resources as approved by Administrator.
11. Maintains Recreational Funds and Records spending and budgeting in accordance with Administrative Directives and Facilities Policies and Procedures.
12.Performs other related duties as assigned.

· HCW or HCA certification and BC CARE AIDE REGISTRATION -BC Care Aide Registry In Good Standing
.ID: BCID or BC Driver’s License, proof of Canadian citizenship or status
· Current First Aid/CPR Training
· Food Safe Level 1 Certification
· Immunization Record for TB test, Hepatitis B and Influenza Vaccination
· Must have ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing

· Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
· Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
· Ability to organize and prioritize.

JOB SUMMARY: The program mandate is to provide support,
care, and assistance for adults (male and female) with mental health conditions in a community based residential rehabilitative facility. Facilities are 8-10 beds.
Facilities are licensed by Vancouver Coastal Heath and City of Richmond Health.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
-following individual client care plans and facility schedules
-administering medications
-following prescribed treatment plans
-meal preparation and service following meal plans
-housecleaning
-laundry
-documentation
-communication with Administrator, Facility Nurse, coworkers, resources
-health and safety of residents and facility in compliance with Policies, Procedures,
and administrative directives.
