Job Description
Recognized by Newsweek as one of America's Greatest Workplaces and certified as a Great Place to Work®, we have also secured our position among Fortune's Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance.
Role Overview
The AI Product Manager/Owner will take full ownership of AI initiatives within a particular Line of Business or claims domain. This position collaborates directly with business stakeholders to identify AI-driven enhancements in claims operations, cost management, and client service performance, transforming these goals into actionable, sprint-ready plans.
This role merges strategic initiative development with practical backlog management and daily teamwork with AI engineers and data scientists. We aim to ensure that the AI development process addresses real operational challenges, resulting in solutions that are practical, compliant, and impactful.
Key Responsibilities
The Product Manager/Owner will engage with claims leadership, operational managers, and Business Transformation Leads to identify workflow bottlenecks, leakage issues, customer friction points, regulatory risks, and performance commitments. They will convert these findings into clearly outlined AI use cases with measurable operational goals such as reducing claim cycle time, enhancing reserving accuracy, improving fraud detection rates, or expediting document processing.
They will break down initiatives into epics and features that accurately reflect real-world operational workflows, ensuring all requirements consider system integrations, adjuster behaviors, client reporting needs, and compliance mandates. Collaborating with AI engineers and data scientists, they will validate feasibility, ascertain data availability, and analyze model explainability and operational impact.
Ownership of the product backlog includes continuous refinement, ensuring it remains prioritized based on business value and aligned with AI portfolio constraints. They will prepare user stories with detailed acceptance criteria reflecting actual claims scenarios rather than abstract technical requirements.
During sprint execution, they will engage closely with the delivery team, clarifying details of claims processes, regulatory stipulations, and client-specific variations. Validating that developed models, automation features, or decision-support tools integrate seamlessly within the claims workflow and meet user expectations is crucial.
They will transparently communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to Line of Business stakeholders, effectively managing expectations regarding sequencing and delivery timelines. Post-deployment, they will monitor adoption, operational metrics, and user feedback, adjusting backlog priorities according to real-world outcomes and measurable impacts.
This role demands a balanced approach to operational urgency alongside disciplined backlog governance, particularly in situations where client escalations or regulatory deadlines create a need for swift adaptation.
Qualifications
• 6-10 years of experience in Product Management or Business-Technology roles within insurance, claims, or managed services.
• Comprehensive understanding of claims operations, adjuster workflows, or insurance servicing models.
• Experience in Agile delivery environments.
• Adeptness in translating operational challenges into structured technical requirements.
• Strong communication skills for engaging with both business and technical stakeholders.
