Job Description
Sepal is conducting an exciting qualitative research study aimed at defining benchmarks of professional excellence in postsecondary instructional support. We are on the lookout for skilled professionals to lend their expertise to structured documentation of their work, develop domain-specific screening criteria, and create in-depth case studies.
As a participant, you will play a vital role in shaping a framework informed by industry practices for evaluating postsecondary instructional support expertise, focusing on practical decision-making and professional judgment.
Ideal Participants May Hold Titles Such As:
• Graduate Teaching Assistant
• Lab Assistant
• Course Assistant
• Discussion Section Leader
• Tutorial Instructor
• Academic Support Assistant
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in or have completed a graduate program in a relevant field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching assistance, tutoring, or instructional support roles
• Strong grasp of course facilitation, grading practices, and student mentorship
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Fluent in English
• Must reside in the United States or Canada
• Access to a computer with stable internet and video conferencing capabilities
• Comfortable using remote work tools (messaging, video calls, document uploads)
• Able to work independently and follow written instructions
What You'll Do:
• Share your professional journey, academic interests, and instructional experiences
• Help define specific evaluation criteria for TA hiring and performance reviews
• Document at least one significant instructional challenge or student engagement initiative you contributed to, detailing context, approach, challenges, and outcomes
• Participate in brief feedback or calibration sessions as required
Compensation & Logistics:
• Compensation range: $30 to $55 per hour, based on expertise and relevance, with bonuses for key contributions
• Initial phase includes a paid trial period
• Paid bi-weekly based on approved and tracked hours
• Fully remote and asynchronous work environment, allowing flexibility within deadlines
