Mō tēnei mahi | About this job
We are seeking a dedicated Kaiako to deliver our Te Tohu Tiaki Taonga (Kaupae 5) programme. This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week) starting in January 2025.
As a Kaiako, you will be responsible for guiding tauira through their learning journey by developing lesson plans, delivering course material, and creating an inclusive learning environment. You will ensure tauira needs are met by fostering academic growth through assessments and responsive teaching practices, while adhering to marau requirements. Collaboration and the use of indigenous teaching practices are key to ensuring tauira success and maintaining the cultural integrity of the learning experience.

The ideal person will be skilled in fostering a supportive learning environment and dedicated to tauira success.
You will also bring with you:
A Bachelor in Mātauranga Māori (Level 7) related to taonga/tikanga/NZ history/anthropology. Other qualifications will be considered, alongside demonstrated lived experience
Diploma in Adult Tertiary Teaching (Level 5 or equivalent)
Full and current New Zealand Drivers’ License
3+ years’ experience working with iwi, hapu, or marae projects
3+ years’ experience teaching adults
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
