About the role:

The Financial Institutions (FI) business plays a central role in achieving the Bank’s growth aspirations, including driving material revenue and profitability growth through selective origination and execution of Fund Finance, Securitisation and Diversified NBFI transactions.

The FI sector has become an increasingly material part of the Oceania portfolio and now accounts for over 20% of total limits. The Portfolio team plays an important role in achieving the Bank’s risk and return targets through conducting annual credit reviews and credit monitoring in accordance with the Bank’s internal procedures.

The Analyst role is integral to this function through the successful completion of a range of day to day tasks, including: the management of FI customer credit & portfolio related requests, supporting the Relationship Managers and Portfolio Leads to manage credit proposals for new transactions, (incorporating deal structuring, preparing credit submissions, & historical and forward looking financial and industry analysis), on-going credit monitoring of the portfolio, all whilst managing compliance with internal processes and policies and providing any other support to the broader FI team.

What you’ll be doing:

The Analyst role supports the FI Coverage team through screening, credit analysis, document execution for origination and existing client transactions, and ongoing monitoring of the FI portfolio.

This role will involve support for the underlying credit tasks:

Conducting annual credit reviews and internal rating reviews

Covenant compliance monitoring

Supporting refinancing and other revenue initiatives across the portfolio

Coordinating within the MUFG network

Client interactions on tasks required for on-boarding and account management

Any other required tasks to support the broader Financial Institutions business.

As a part of this function, the new team member must consider limit requests and needs for the upcoming 12-month period and tie this request into all daily work efforts; efficiency and planning for customer needs are crucial.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in corporate and institutional lending in a major domestic or international bank. Candidates from credit rating agencies, advisory houses, investment management firms, chartered accounting firms or corporate treasury teams may also be considered.

The ideal candidate should have:

Solid mathematical knowledge, Excel spreadsheet skills, research & analytical skills and broad Australian industry, business and economic understanding

Ability to engage in independent research & analysis of customers and markets and apply critical thinking and a high level of attention to detail

Strong financial analysis acumen and ability to assess large sets of data, make expert judgement, and identify key risks

Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally

We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and presentation skills, is a team player and a self-starter who applies initiative and has drive, enthusiasm and curiosity. An analytical mindset and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks across various work streams and stakeholders.

Business / Commerce / Law Degree from a leading university is essential, Masters of Finance, MBA or CFA will be considered favourably.
